Do I REALLY need to forgive?

Emotional health depends on strengthening the mind.
Strengthening the mind occurs as we forgive others.
How do I know?  Because my own journey through life has given me opportunities to either forgive someone who has wronged me–especially unjustly–or to hold a grudge.  I have seen firsthand what holding grudges does.  It creates bitter, resentful, hateful people who have no problem firing missals at the very people they should love and honor.  It turns these people into haters of light.
Who do you need to forgive?  Take a first step.  Write a letter to them and pretend they are at their very best.  Keep the letter and read it often.  Allow this one act to help you begin the journey to having your heart turn.  Forgiveness does not mean accepting what they did or accepting them into your life.  Forgiveness means peace and a fortified mind for you.
I know because it happened to me this past week.
Forgiveness matters.  You matter.

Stifled Grief and the “Permission” to Grieve

This is a fantastic article that explains how grief is going to be a part of every person’s mortal experience, and how the expectations and realities surrounding grief need to be understood and allowed in our Western culture.

I completely agree.  Stifling grief only causes a host of challenges that really don’t need to happen…one of which can be a root cause to depression and anxiety. If you are someone who needs to thoroughly grieve, hopefully this article will give you the permission you may need.  If you don’t need to grieve right now, hopefully the article will provide an understanding as you interact with others who are grieving.

What is Your Gut Type and Why Does it Matter?

Find out what gut type you have by clicking here and begin the journey to healing from what is causing leaky gut…

Why does this really matter for those struggling with depression?

Because depression is a symptom, “…a vague surface sign at best that doesn’t tell you anything about its root cause…depression is the hurting; it’s an adaptive response, intelligently communicated by the body, to something not being right within, often because things are also off in our environment.” (Brogan, A Mind of Your Own, p. 26.)

It matters…because all disease begins in the gut!  (Hippocrates)

What is Leaky Gut and Is There a Connection for Me?

I have been learning more and more about the connection between what goes on in the gut and what it happening in the mind.  I am currently going through Dr. Axe’s program to continue to support the work I have already done to be healthy in my gut and in my mind.  When the systems in our bodies are not functioning properly, it can be easy to succumb to mental and emotional stress.  As my last post mentioned, finding root causes in the body and mind and then knowing what to do about them is the way to overcome depression and anxiety.

Watch this 7 minute Youtube video where Dr. Axe explains what leaky gut is and the 7 foods to eat to support better gut health.  Let this idea grow and sprout.  Choose just one of the 7 foods that Dr. Axe suggests and consistently incorporate it for one week.  Do you notice anything?  Then incorporate another of the foods and continue until you are doing better with all seven.
